Site FAQ

Q: What is UNA ServiceTracker?
This site was developed by UNA students as a platform for faculty to submit and review their service activities (both internal and external). Prior to this site, there was no standardized format for collecting this data. This information will be used in tandem with other data collected from teaching and research.

Q: How do I create an account?
To register an account for this site, click the "register" button in the upper-right corner. All UNA faculty members are supplied with a unique UNA e-mail address. This address will also serve as your key to activating an account on this site and as your user name for logging in to your account here (once created).

Q: I only see two links (Home and Support).
Only registered users can access the additional sections of this site. Once you have created and activated your account, log in to see the rest of the links.

Q: I forgot my password!
Passwords are encrypted into the database and cannot be retrieved. As a result, it is necessary to reset your password if it becomes lost or compromised. Use the password recovery form on this page to have a recovery code sent to your UNA e-mail.

Q: How do I submit activities?
Once you have registered, confirmed, and logged in, you will see the Activities and Reports links appear in the upper-left. Click "Activities" to add new activities and review all submissions. You can also edit or delete individual activities here.

You can submit either completed activities or activities still in progress. For unfinished activities, either enter the future ending date or just leave "Present" if the the ending date is not yet known. When you finish an activity in progress, edit the activity's date ended to the final day/month of the activity.

Q: How do I retrieve my activities?
Log in and click on the "Reports" link located in the upper-left. This page will allow you to filter your activities by type, date, and/or whether the activity is new since the last export. Data will be exported in a standard *.CSV file (comma-separated values) with the first row containing the column headers. This format is readily-importable into Excel, which can provide further statistical and reporting functionality.

Q: I changed the date range filter, but my results are the same!
This is a result of how the script handling the pop-up calendar updates the text field containing the date. To apply the date range and update your results, click [ Apply Search ] on the "Activities" page or the "click here to apply new dates" link on the "Generate Reports" page.

Q: I enabled JavaScript but still can't see pop-up windows!
"Add New Activity", "Import From Spreadsheet", editing/deleting activities, and previewing generated reports all use JavaScript pop-up windows. Some browsers will automatically block these windows by default and give you the option to allow them for the current site. Setting this option will resolve this problem and display the pop-ups correctly.

Q: I have an issue that was not resolved here.
Contact a site administrator listed in the Contact Information section by e-mail with a description of your problem and your UNA e-mail address. They have further administration abilities to manipulate accounts/data and should be able to resolve your problem.
